A downloadable game for Windows

actory TD is a maze-building tower defense where your towers only shoot what your factory makes.

Put miners on rocks and trees, belt the stone and wood back to the Main Tower, and turn it into arrows and cannonballs for your Ballistas and Cannons. Steer the skeletons with walls so they walk past your guns for as long as possible.

This playtest has:

  • A guided tutorial with the Wizard: mining, belts, ammo, towers and walls, step by step
  • The Bent Hollow: a three-lane valley sunk in cliffs, 8 waves, night falls when the skeletons come
  • Sawmill, Brick Former, Charcoal Kiln, the Ember Bellows flamethrower, Sorters, Item Elevators and the iron line

Start with the Tutorial (about 10 minutes), then press Play.

Controls: WASD / arrows pan, mouse wheel zooms, right-drag turns the view. Pick a building from the build menu and click to place; drag to lay belts. R turns, X removes, Space starts the next wave early, F speeds up, Esc opens the menu.

Install instructions

Download and install (Windows)

  1. Click Download and pick Factory TD Playtest v0.1 (Windows) (137 MB).
  2. Right-click the zip and choose Extract All... Don't run the game from inside the zip.
  3. Open the extracted folder and double-click FactoryTD.exe. Keep FactoryTD.pck in the same folder.
  4. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. The game isn't code-signed yet, so Windows warns about every new download like it.
  5. The first start shows a plain cream screen for a few seconds while the graphics warm up. That's normal.

Using the itch.io app? Just click Install, then Launch.

To uninstall, delete the folder. Your progress and settings are in %APPDATA%\FactoryTD Playtest; delete that too for a fresh start.

Requirements: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), a graphics card with Vulkan or DirectX 12 support, about 250 MB of free space. If the game won't start or the screen stays black, update your graphics drivers first.
